CASE The Catty

Stampin Up, Pals Blog Hop, Demo Lynn Tague at BeyondBeachesandBlessings.com #BeyondBeachesandBlessings

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for February 2017. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month, we are CASE’ing a project shown in a current Stampin’ Up! catalog. After all, with the Annual, Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs available right now, there is much inspiration from which to choose. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

Not sure what CASE means? Well, I’ve seen this defined a couple of ways: Copy and Share Everything, and Copy and Selectively Edit.

I’ve chosen one of my most favorite projects from the 2017 Occasions catalog. The card can be found on page 42 and is made with a die and stamp from the Special Reason Bundle. This card is super quick and easy to re-create, as well as very versatile! Rather than use the same Designer Series Paper (DSP) used in the Occasions catalog sample, I chose some of my favorite patterned Designer Series Papers from the Annual catalog. Take a look at my first CASE’d sample made using paper from the Blooms & Bliss DSP pack featuring Island Indigo and Mint Macaron.

My next CASE’d version uses another patterned paper from the Blooms & Bliss DSP pack using the colors Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum.

And, my last version of this card uses paper from the Floral Boutique DSP pack in Night of Navy and Whisper White. Take a look.

Stampin Up, CAS, Birthday Card, Special Reason Bundle, Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper, designed by Demo Lynn Tague, See more cards and gifts ideas at BeyondBeachesandBlessings.com #BeyondBeachesandBlessings

These are standard A2 cards (5.5″ x 4.25″). Cut base cardstock 8.5″ x 5.5″ scoring 8.5″ side at 4.25″ then fold in half on score line. I used Shimmery White cardstock cut 2.75″ wide and 3.75″ tall to cut out the die-cut flower using the largest flower in the Stylish Stems Framellits Dies set. The sentiment is stamped on a 3″ x 0.5″ piece of coordinating cardstock. Each card uses a 14″ piece of Linen Thread tied in a bow and Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the shimmery white piece.

Hope you have enjoyed the inspiration I prepared for you today! These are very easy cards to make and assemble. And, they assemble quickly. The stamp set in the Special Reason Bundle contains several sentiments such as Birthday, Friendship, and Congratulations which make the stamp set pretty versatile on its own.

Leave me a comment below and let me know what you think of today’s CASE’d cards and what your favorite set is in the 2017 Occasions catalog. I love reading your feedback! Like my projects today? Sunshine Wishes & Valentines

Today, I am sharing a Valentine’s card I created for this week’s Global Design Project Challenge GDP072. Below is the picture of the card inspiration by Designer, Krista Frattin, we are using to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit). Additional details on this challenge can be found here.

#GDP072

Before I show you the card I submitted for my #GDP072 entry, I want to share the first version of this card with you, with no added embellishment. I think you’ll find this card quick and easy to create. Take a look.

Stampin Up, CAS, Valentine Card, Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack, designed by Demo Lynn Tague, See more cards and gifts ideas at BeyondBeachesandBlessings.com #BeyondBeachesandBlessings

I created these cards by combining patterned paper from the Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack with the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, along with Real Red and Basic Black Cardstock and Red Glimmer Paper. Keep in mind, you could also use Real Red for the die cut heart rather than the glimmer paper.

The next version of this card is my Global Design Project entry. To the above version, I added a piece of Real Red ribbon from the Sending Love Combo Ribbon Pack.

Stampin Up, CAS, Valentine Card, Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack, designed by Demo Lynn Tague, See more cards and gifts ideas at BeyondBeachesandBlessings.com #BeyondBeachesandBlessings #GDP072

To create these cards, cut a 5.5″ x 8.5″ piece of Real Red cardstock, score 8.5″ side at 4.25″ then fold in half. Cut a 3″ x 3″ piece of patterned paper from the DSP pack and a 2″ x 4.25″ piece of patterned paper from the DSP pack. Cut a 2-7/8″ x 2-7/8″ piece of Basic Black cardstock. Using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, die cut the Heart (from Red Glimmer Paper or Real Red cardstock) and the word “love” from Basic Black cardstock.

Then, if you wish, add some embellishment, such as a piece of ribbon or rhinestones. Speaking of rhinestones, to the final version of today’s card  I added three rhinestones from the Rhinestone Basic Jewels pack. Check out this final version in the picture below.

And finally, one last photo of the two embellished cards side-by-side.

Sending Love is So Sweet

Let’s take a stroll down Memory Lane today. Remember Valentine’s Day back when you were in Elementary School? We’d decorate Valentine boxes on our own at home and then on that special day we’d bring our decorated box to School so our classmates could deliver their Valentine to each of us. What were your School traditions around Valentine’s Day?

Back in those days, I remember it was always the night before our classroom Valentine’s Party that I’d be making out my Valentine’s, carefully signing my name, inserting candy, then sealing and addressing the envelope. Today, it is still just as much fun to create and send those you care about a special Valentine card. It’s also fun to share a Valentine’s candy gift with others.

I’m sure it’s no surprise, I have another Valentine card idea to share. I created this card using products from the Sending Love Suite of products from the 2017 Occasions Catalog along with the Large Letters Framelits which are fast becoming one of my favorite die sets from our 2016-2017 Annual Catalog. I have a lengthy list of card inspiration to create using the Large Letters Framelits and hope to share more with you as this year progresses. Take a look at today’s Valentine card.  This card was simple to create and assemble.

Stampin Up, CAS, Valentine Card, Sealed With Love Bundle, Layering Circles Framelits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Large Letters Framelits, designed by Demo Lynn Tague, See more cards and gifts ideas at BeyondBeachesandBlessings.com #BeyondBeachesandBlessings

Supplies used to create the front of this card include: Real Red cardstock (cut 5.5″ x 8.5″; folded in half), Whisper White cardstock (cut 5.5″ x 3.25″ and for stitched circle), Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack patterned paper (for letters and scalloped circle), Sealed with Love Bundle, Layering Circle Framelits, and the Stitched Shapes Framelits which are available again for purchase. By the way, I finished off the inside of the card with Whisper White cardstock (cut 4″ x 5.25″) and a cluster of the four hearts adhered in the lower left-hand corner. Looking for some Valentine treat giving ideas, check out these blog posts, Be My Valentine, and From the Heart.

Remember, the 2017 Occasions Catalog and Stampin’ Up!’s annual Sale-A-Bration event are in full swing! Be My Valentine

I love Valentine’s Day. It’s such a wonderful day to let everyone know you how much you love and care for them. And, as you know, I LOVE to make little gifts to give away to others. So, this post is all about these cute little Tic Tac covers for Valentine’s gifts. But first, I have to share with you the cute Valentine Tic Tac’s I saw while grocery shopping yesterday. Couldn’t help but pick up a few of these to give away.  Take a look.

Stampin Up, Tac Tac Gifts, Designed by Demo Lynn Tague. For more cards and gifts visit BeyondBeachesandBlessings.com, #BeyondBeachesandBlessings

This past Saturday, I received my January Paper Pumpkin kit. The January kit is called “Adorning Arrows” and guess what? You’ll see one of the cute Paper Pumpkin Valentine’s treat bags in the picture below and a package of Tic Tacs fit perfectly in the January Paper Pumpkin treat bags, too.

Here are the cute little Valentine wrappers I created for Tic Tacs. Can you tell what element in the same in all three of the ideas?

Stampin Up, Valentine Treat Bag, January 2017 Paper Pumpkin, Sending Love Designer Series Paper (DSP) Stack, Sealed with Love Bundle, Sending Love Suite, Sending Love Ribbon Combo Pack, Designed by Demo Lynn Tague. More cards and gift ideas at BeyondBeachesandBlessings.com, #BeyondBeachesandBlessings

Have you figured out what is the same with each of the three treat bags or wrappers? I love the stamp set included in the January Paper Pumpkin kit. I used the “Happy Valentine’s Day” sentiment from this set for each of these. Now, what’s different about the two on the outside? Take another look. Look closely. Did you spot the difference in ribbon color and the patterned paper? Leave me a comment and let me know. January’s Paper Pumpkin project, the treat bags, is featured in the center of the three gift items in the photo.

For the Tic Tac wrappers I cut a piece from Real Red cardstock measuring 5-5/16″ x 2-13/16″ (sorry about the 1/16th of an inch). Score along the 5-5/16″ side at 11/16″, 2-1/2″, 3-3/16″, and 5″. Place Tear and Tape on the 5/16″ strip and adhere to form rectangle. Tie ribbon around Tic Tac container, so when you lift up on bow, it lifts the Tic Tac container from the wrapper. Insert container with bow into wrapper and decorate wrapper.

During Sale-A-Bration (now through March 31), you can get a FREE Sale-A-Bration item with a 3-month pre-paid Paper Pumpkin subscription which costs $55 during Sale-A-Bration. Check out Paper Pumpkin here.

From the Heart

Stampin Up, Pals Blog Hop, Demo Lynn Tague at BeyondBeachesandBlessings.com #BeyondBeachesandBlessings

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for January 2017. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes. This month our projects showcase themes that are “from the heart.” This includes any of the following themes… Valentine’s Day, Thinking of You, Get Well and/or Sympathy. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below. The full line-up will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

This month I am featuring the new Sealed with Love Photopolymer Bundle from the new 2017 Occasions catalog creating a Valentine’s Day card and matching treat bag. I designed two versions of the Valentine’s Day card; one using the Layering Circles Framelits along with a Stitched Circle, and one using the Layering Squares Framelits along with a Stitched Square. You can easily use the Layering Framelits for both the Real Red and the Whisper White pieces on the card, if you don’t have the Stitched Shapes Framelits set. Each of the cards also feature five of the printed papers from the Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack (LOVE this paper stack for Valentine’s Day cards and treats). The supplies used in these projects are listed at the bottom of my post.

My favorite Valentine’s Day candy – Cinnamon Hearts. So, I filled a 2″ x 8″ Cellophane Bag with Gimbal’s Cinnamon Lovers chewy hearts. This is a great time to be thinking about Valentine cards and small gifts to give to family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and teachers for Valentine’s Day, and getting them made and ready for giving. Take a look!

Dragonfly Dreams & More

Welcome! Sale-A-Bration is the best time of the year with the new 2017 Occasions catalog and the special FREE Sale-A-Bration gift with every $50 purchase products!

I just love the new Dragonfly Dreams Bundle consisting of the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies (on page 26 of the new 2017 Occasions catalog). And, as promised, today’s project features supplies used from both notepad projects from my It’s a New Year with New Products post. If you missed the first two notepad projects, visit my post to get all the details.

This project is made using the Bermuda Bay Designer Series Paper, Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies, Large Letters Framelits, Layering Ovals Framelits, Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies (available again with the release of the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog), along with Basic Black, Whisper White, Bermuda Bay Cardstock and Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper. The notepad (purchased at Target) measures 4″ x 6″ and the gift box for the pen measures 6″ x 5/8″ x 5/8″ and is tied with 1/8″ Silver Ribbon. I die cut the dragonflies from the Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper. The shimmer makes the notepad cover pop!

StampinUp, CAS, Note Pad with Pen, made with Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies, Bermuda Bay Designer Series Paper DSP, Stitched Framelits, Layering Oval Framelits, Large Letters Framelits, designed by demo Lynn Tague. See more cards and gift ideas at BeyondBeachesandBlessings.com #BeyondBeachesandBlessings

The cardstock for the gift box is cut 3″ x 7-7/8″ and scored along the 3″ side at 5/8″, 1-1/4″ 1-7/8″, and 2-1/2″ (last 1/2″ is the piece that gets adhered to inside of box). The 7-7/8″ side get scored at 5/8″, 6-5/8″ and 7-1/4″. Put strong adhesive (like Fast Fuse or Tear & Tape) across the bottom 6″ long 1/2″ wide snipped strip on top side in image below. Then put strong tape/adhesive on the four tabs on the Left in the template image below; adhesive goes on top of the snipped/trimmed pieces and on the underside of the one left square. No adhesive on the tabs on right side of image as these tabs just fold/tuck in to complete the opening end of the box. Here is a picture of the cutting template to assist you with snipping, adhesive, and folding.

Don’t you just love the look of the personalized monogram? Think of all the possibilities in stationery type gifts you can make using the oval, square, and circle layer dies and other dies from the new Occasions catalog or Annual catalog, along with the Large Letters Framelits. Do you have some fun ideas you’re thinking of using to CASE this project? Leave me some feedback in the comment section below and share your ideas with me.

And, the SUPER COOL pens I’ve been collecting and giving as gifts, here’s the scoop! I have been purchasing my pens from PenGems. You can use this referral link to get 10% off your first purchase. Check them out! My gift box fits the clear pen boxes PenGems packages their pens in perfectly! Enjoy!

Finally, if you are planning to spend more than $100 on your Stampin’ Up! order with the launch of our new Occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration mini catalog, you should consider purchasing all that product via the Stampin’ Up! Starter Kit (a.k.a. The Ultimate Bundle) as you will get up to $125 worth of merchandise (PLUS 2 additional free stamp sets of your choice which could add up to $104 more in product value) for only $99 + tax. The shipping is FREE and the business supplies (optional to use) are FREE, too! Plus you’d get to become a part of my fabulous community of stamping Beachcombers. Contact me with any questions you may have and I’ll fill you in on all the details of this special offer!

If your Wish List is lengthy, like mine, you may want to consider purchasing the Ultimate Bundle (for just $99) and joining my stamping Beachcombers team! I’d been a hobby stamper for almost 20 years, when my Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator talked to me about joining her team as a hobbyist and purchasing the Ultimate Bundle for just $99. With my love for SU! products, I couldn’t refuse this offer. Ordering $125 in SU! products of my choosing, then selecting 2 additional stamp sets for FREE! And a discount on my future purchases, too, to support my hobby! I was all in! And, YOU, can be too! Just email me and I’ll be happy to fill you in on all the details and answer any questions you may have.

Now, on to the crafty good stuff! There are so many fun and versatile new products in the Occasions catalog and Sale-A-Bration mini catalog. I want to point out a couple of my favorites to get this party started. Then, over the coming weeks, I’ll focus on some other favorite products and show you samples from those products.

I ran across some 4″ x 6″ notepads at Target and thought these would be fun to decorate and give as gifts along with a special new pen.  I also created a matching gift box for the new pen and tied it closed with a piece of 1/8″ Silver Ribbon from the current Annual catalog. For the first notepad and pen set, I used the first of my favorites, the new Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies including the beautiful sentiment. These are sold in a bundle (Dragonfly Dreams Bundle) for added savings (page 26 of Occasions catalog). Take a look!

Here is another version, using supplies from the Annual catalog along with the new Stitched Shapes Framelits that will be available in the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog. These framelits were available for a limited time in 2016 and were wildly popular; I LOVE my set of stitched dies! This layout makes a nice personalized monogrammed style notepad.

Below is another picture of each notepad. Are you curious about the new pens I’m gifting? Which notepad design do you like best? Leave me your feedback below. I’d also love for you to subscribe to my blog by clicking on the Follow Me Now button to the right so you don’t miss my post on the pens I purchased and another notepad sample using supplies from each of these two cards. I’ll also include the measurements for the pen box at that time which measures 6″ x 5/8″ x 5/8″. Here is a link to that post, Dragonfly Dreams & More.

From the new Sale-A-Bration mini, my first favorite is the Tasty Truck stamp set.  Check this product out on page 12-13. Combine this stamp set with the new Watercolor Pencils, and let your creativity begin. The Watercolor Pencils can be found on page 24 of the Occasions catalog.

Reflections on Gift Giving

I know the new year has arrived, but everyone can always use gift giving ideas. This past Christmas, we gave gift cards for gifts. Most think this is pretty boring. I find it fun to find new and creative ways to camouflage gift cards. I have attached to boxes of Movie candy, to DVDs, to boxes of chocolates, wrapped in boxes, placed in greeting cards (the more traditional way of giving a gift card), even placed in stockings…well, you get the picture.

This year I gave out several gift cards presented in the combination snack/gift card boxes I created using SU! Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the 2016 Holiday Catalog. See my Anything But A Card post from November, if you haven’t seen this gift giving idea.

For our family members, I created a matchbook style card with a gift card holder inside (from a beautiful card idea I CASE’d from SU! Demonstrator, Patty Bennett). I then wrapped some Hershey’s Nuggets (the toffee and almond ones) in coordinating DSP paper, then wrapped both items together in a 6″ x 6″ x 1.5″ box using some beautiful glimmering silver wrapping paper I found at our new Container Store. You’ll also notice I created a coordinating tag to include on the outside of each present. Everything about this past year’s gifts coordinated together.

Can you believe I cut out and assembled 40 sets of all the materials to make these cards and nugget holders? A co-worker and I led a team-building activity at work and those that could join us (18, I believe) each made a card and the treat holder. Turned out to be a really fun activity and we made the materials available for a few days afterward for those who could not make it, to assemble their goodies. What creative ways have you used to camouflage your gift cards? Share your thoughts by adding a comment below.

Now, I have to share with you yesterday (January 1) was a special day in our house as our Panda celebrated her 2nd Birthday. We originally planned to celebrate by taking her to the Three Dog Bakery near our home for a special treat. However, the bakery was not open yesterday. Not to worry, we made our special trip today and she enjoyed a delicious Mutter Butter Cookie. Here is a picture of Panda on Christmas Day, playing with a new Santa toy she received from her Uncle Scott and Aunt Marcy. She loves this new toy!

Favorites from 2016

Where has 2016 gone? I’ve been battling some illnesses the past two months, so the last two months have passed by very quickly and final preparations for Christmas were a mad dash in the Tague household this year as a result. Nonetheless, I thought since my Beyond Beaches & Blessings blog started in June 2016, it would be appropriate to recap some of my favorite projects from 2016 on this eve of the new year.

Let’s start with cards. Below are my three favorite card fronts. Although, a couple others rank right up there with these three when I look at my year of projects in totality. My Swirly Bird Meets Halloween card tops the list (with over 1,600 pins on Pinterest), followed by my Star of Light card from the September 2016 Pals Blog Hop, My Favorite Season. My third selection is new to my blog posts and was created using my favorite Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the SU! Holiday catalog, Candy Cane Lane. Although, I do love my Double Dutch fun fold card, too. Which one of these three card fronts are your favorite? Leave me a comment below, I love reading your feedback.

I have a 12×12 Christmas Scrapbook I created many years ago that contains two to four pages from each Christmas and includes a copy of our annual Christmas letter and card. With Candy Cane Lane DSP being my most favorite paper collection, I just had to create the scrapbook pages for Christmas 2016 from this DSP collection. Of course, next on my “To Do” list is to finish this year’s Christmas pages. Take a look at the scrapbook page layout. Do you have a Christmas or Hanukkah Scrapbook you add to annually?  If not, I am happy to help you get one started.

Ask anyone who knows me, I LOVE making table favors and 3D paper-crafted gifts and gift boxes to hold candy or gift cards. In June, I made 120 table favors with a matching Birthday card for my sister’s 50th birthday celebration in Pittsburgh. However, I have chosen for my top two favorite 3D projects in 2016 my snack/gift card combo box from my November 2016 Pals Blog Hop, Anything But a Card blog post, and an explosion box that holds a gift card in the center. Who doesn’t love snack mix and who doesn’t have a need to give a number of gift cards as gifts throughout the Christmas or Hanukkah holiday seasons? I love each of these project equally. Check out my combo gift box with coordinating tiny card. Is it any surprise, I used Candy Cane Lane?

This second 3D item, is actually my favorite from a sentimental perspective. I created it to hold the gift card my team from work purchased for our Team Leader, Tom, for Christmas. This box is called an explosion box because when you remove the lid, the walls of the box fall open revealing a surprise. My apologies, as I grabbed this picture before I placed the gift card in the box. The gift card goes in the short holder just behind the gingerbread man. The sentimental part, I asked all of the members of our team to choose a marker (giving the inside some added color) and write a short personal greeting to Tom. Little did we know at the time we presented our gift to him, Tom will be leaving us on January 5 to move closer to family and begin a new career opportunity in New Jersey. Take a look at our now keepsake explosion box for Tom.  Notice how the top of the lid is decorated in the second photo.  I LOVE using markers to color a stamp so the image can be stamped in multiple colors!

Which 3D item is your favorite of the two? Did you check out the link to my table favors for my sister’s 50th Birthday? If you did, consider this one in sharing your favorite 3D item with me.

What a delight it has been for me to recap some of my favorite projects from 2016 and include a few new projects you haven’t seen yet. Please leave me some feedback and let me know which projects are your favorites from 2016. Happy New Year!

I am looking forward to all the new prospects 2017 will bring our way.  Are you?

Blessings,

Lynn

All That Sparkles and Shines

PalsBlogHop_2016

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for December 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes. This month our projects showcase products that can add sparkle and/or shine for a finishing touch. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below. The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

For this month’s project, my goal was to create a special Christmas card for a friend who loves snowflakes as much as I do. I have to confess, I love going outside during an evening snowfall of giant flakes and catch them on dark colored construction paper under the light, so you can look at them up closely; they are beautiful and very intricate. I had this beauty in mind when creating this card.

The card is as beautiful as I imagined it; just difficult to catch on camera. Did you know you can stamp on Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper? I did just that using Soft Sky ink for the three popped-up snowflakes. They are beautiful and full of sparkles. Using Stampin’ Up! Glimmer paper, along with Foil sheets, Rhinestone Basic Jewels and 1/8” Silver Ribbon is sure to add sparkle and shine to any of your projects. These are all staples in my paper-crafting arsenal for adding sparkle and shine, and I use them often.

Let me know what you think of this card by leaving me a comment. If you don’t already follow my blog, I encourage you to do so by providing your e-mail address in the box to the left then clicking on Follow Me Now button.
